Nicest thing - Kate Nash

All I know is that you're so nice
You're the nicest thing I've seen
I wish that we could give it a go
See if we could be something

I wish I was your favourite girl
I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world
I wish my smile was your favourite kind of smile
I wish the way that I dressed was your favourite kind of style
I wish you couldn't figure me out
But you always wanna know what I was about
I wish you'd hold my hand when I was upset
I wish you'd never forget the look on my face when we first met

I wish you had a favourite beauty spot that you loved secretly
'Cause it was on a hidden bit that nobody else could see
Basically, I wish that you loved me
I wish that you needed me
I wish that you knew when I said two sugars
Actually, I meant three

I wish that without me your heart would break
I wish that without me you'd be spending the rest of your nights awake
I wish that without me you couldn't eat
I wish I was the last thing on your mind before you went to sleep

All I know
Is that you're the nicest thing I've ever seen
I wish that we could see
If we could be something

Toi Mon Amour - Marc Lavoine

He doesn't know - Tina Dico

If you ever pass by where I used to live
And should you bump in to the man I was with
Back when I didn't know what to believe
Please, will you tell him from me

That I loved him with every beat of my heart
I'd tremble with longing when we were apart
Oh, I'd ache to pull him in close
I don't think he knows

The last thing I heard he was losing his job
I guess they'd found out that he rarely turned up
He hated it there only stayed for me
Please, will you make him believe

That I always thought you should follow your dreams
However hard and uncertain it seems
I'd have loved him whatever he chose
I don't think he knows

I lives grew apart, it's been just over a year
For reasons I can't really tell you about here
Love wasn't nearly enough in the end
Please, will you tell him again

That I hurt myself more than I ever hurt him
I wasn't as distant and cold as I seemed
I was lost all the way into my bones
I don't think he knows

When the dust had settled he moved on as well
He found a new girl that he loved, I could tell
And my mind started wandering jealously
Please, will you ask him from me

If really he thought that I was the one
Or were we just sharing some time on the run
Did he love me with peace and with hope
I don't really know...

Aged?

So I've come down with yet another lingering cough. Yep, I am the Cough-a-holic!
But I wasn't using this cough as an excuse not to go boxing, nope sirree! I didn't go boxing because I pulled something in my back... no seriously, it hurts when I sit, it hurts when I lie down, it hurts when I walk... I am in serious P.A.I.N!

Pain pain pain pain pain pain pain
ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow

So anyway, I skipped my training session tonight and I think I might not go back... lazy? yup, no buts about it

But I will keep up the training, perhaps not as exhaustive, but I will keep it up over the warmer months. I want to look good for the brother's wedding ;)

Good friends and great food

Just returned from a pleasant evening out with some work buddies. I think this will become a regular unofficial thing now. And I am the unofficial event organiser of these outings. Food is an awesome bringer-togetherer of people :)

So tonight we went out to Blue Chillies in Fitzroy. Small, quaint restaurant with tasty food and fairly good service, albeit pricey for the type of stuff I normally get at home...

But, money just cannot buy the company I was with tonight. A crazy eclectic mix of personalities. A priceless gift :)

So... What about the food? Any pics I hear you ask? Well, no actually. I didn't take any pics because food bloggers there are plenty and there are plenty who are darn good at it, whereas I am not a food blogger. I am but an enjoyer of good food. And when I am with great company, the food experience triples in enjoyment value. You can take it from me though, it was pretty darn good ;)

But now I must restrain myself from any more eating out... Just starting to feel my clothes becoming tighter than usual, not to mention my pocket becoming lighter!

Well, restraint shown until at least the next pay day heheh :)

However, I guess I will be starting boot camp next week so getting pleasantly plump isn't the real problem ;P

The torture begins next week!

Keep your head high Bella Mae - Dallas Crane

You and me are never gonna be right
So don't wait up late for me tonight
This is one of those
We can't push outta the way

We can fight our demons till we're blue in the hands
But darling I won't be doing that
Cause it's time now love
To move right on in the grave

So keep your head high Bella Mae
Save your crying for another day

We had the world in our heavy hands
We'll never have that time again
So move along tonight
But don't sit around by the phone

You and me were always running behind
Now I know we're outta time
And it's the only way
And deep down darling you know

So keep your head high Bella Mae
Save your crying for another day
So keep your head high Bella Mae
Save your crying for another day

You and me we had our one last stand
And time ran out on our master plan
But now it's gone tonight
We ain't got nothing to say

You and me are never gonna be right
So don't wait up late for me tonight
This is one of those
We can't push outta the way

So keep your head high Bella Mae
Save your crying for another day
So keep your head high Bella Mae
Save your crying for another day

Crikey Christchurch!

Sad news about Christchurch this weekend. Everything is broken and we had everything planned... Selfishly, I sure do hope that it's all gonna be fine and dandy by the time we land cos I'm really looking forward to driving around the South island a bit... We're gonna have to keep a close eye on things cos perhaps we might need to change plans and head straight to Greymouth or Hokitika (sp? Hokitiki?? Y'all know what I mean).

People come people go

It's been a weird and funny year.

I have found a job that I surprisingly rather enjoy, working with a fabulous cast of characters that keep my week very interesting and full of laughter. And in this short amount of time I welcomed a number of new friends into my life but have also had a few that left...

Happy Evs and ditsy Paps, you guys rock! Big Cheeky JB, Skinny Mo and the BM always great fun to be around, Miss Angelic and Miss Smiley you ladies are awesome. Mr Charming, just thank you for being around.

ST, NV, HT, MAS will be, and still are, sorely missed. And then there was the BBB.

We had some great times, a lot of fun and when it was over, you took a small piece of me with you but I believe that I am now better for it and even though I miss the good old times we had together I can honestly tell myself now that I don't miss you.

Hmm..... what else? Not much really. I really need to stop being all gushy about life. For now.

I am constantly tired, but that is just from lack of sleep... I do too much at work and don't get paid nearly enough for it but I love what I do and who I work with so what are my options? Time is a funny thing. I have plenty of it, but still not enough.... last year I had so much of it I didn't know what to do with it. I suppose that was when I found out who my true friends were... the ones who are most supportive of you in your most miserable times. I'd love to be one who lives my life with no regrets, but unfortunately, regrets I have plenty. Wasting time with Wasters of Time is a big big regret I have.

I'll try to steer clear of these Time Wasters of Life in the future ;)

Never driving to Coburg again

Dear Future Me (yep... How I met your mother has a lot to answer for...),

Just in case I lose my mind again and decide to venture out on my own, out of the comfort of my Western suburbs cocoon....DON'T!

Never ever drive there without any support or backup ever again. Full. Stop. It don't matter what you think. You WILL get lost. Guaranteed.

Remember tonight? At the Old Purple One's party? Sure you got there no problems... In fact, it didn't even take as long as you thought it would to get there... And it was an awesome party... The birthday boy's dad even flirted with you bit too, that was funny. But what happened when you left to get home? Do you remember?

Now now, don't be coy, you were there... Be honest now..

That's right... You got lost. Took a wrong turn or two... And then a few more wrong turns and almost ended up in Broadmeadows. Now that wasn't good, was it?

And then what happened? You got stuck behind a stupid slow car and got pinged going through a red light. Shit, oh that's right, you recall now... just what you need the night before your very own birthday. A stupid fine that technically wasn't your fault. Aaahhh well, sometimes you just gotta cop things like that. It could've been far worse. Someone could've ran a red and a terrible accident happened.

Think of this way, that little fine is trade off for no accidents happening to you. I'll take that on the chin.

And you got home safely. Almost 1.5hrs later... Double the time it should've taken but you got home and saw your birthday.

So happy birthday Future Me. And never ever drive to Coburg on your own ever again.

I learnt from tv last night (so you know it must be true) that emos are kids that like to dress in black and listen to sad music....

Paperweight – Josh Radin (ft. Schuyler Fisk)

Been up all night staring at you

wondering what's on your mind

I've been this way with so many before

but this feels like the first time

you want the sunrise to go back to bed

I want to make you laugh

mess up my bed with me

kick off the covers I'm waiting

every word you sayIi think

I should write down

don't want to forget come daylight

happy to lay here

just happy to be here

I'm happy to know you

play me a song

your newest one

please leave your taste on my tongue

paperweight on my back

cover me like a blanket

mess up my bed with me

kick off the covers I'm waiting

every word you say I think

I should write down

don't want to forget come daylight

and no need to worry

that's wasting time

and no need to wonder

what's been on my mind

it's you

it's you

it's you

every word you say I think

I should write down

don't want to forget come daylight

and I give up

I let you win

you win cause I'm not counting

you made it back

to sleep again

wonder what you're dreaming

You know a sign when you see one

You know when things happen in your life, and it happens over and over and over again until you can no longer ignore it or avoid it because you know someone is trying to tell you something?

Well, I have had many of those moments recently…

PwC, dagnabbit! I just cannot get away from them!

By sheer coincidence, I discovered that the nice partner in the department had retired in June and as I was reading through his farewell tribute I was reminded that it has been quite awhile and I should probably get in touch with some of my old peeps down in PwC-Land… lo and behold, the instant that thought crossed my mind, I discovered that more than a handful of the people I had worked with there had left good old PwC-Land. It was all too coincidental that so many of them had left at roughly the same time this year… just too odd. Was the company really doing so poorly that so many middle management staff had to be retrenched?

Ok, so "retrenched" is my assumption of the situation… because you never know, perhaps out of about 15 middle managers they had, 8 of them decided to quit their cushy comfort zones of a job all at the same time…

Yes, it could happen… but unlikely.

And then out of nowhere, I see one of these "retrenched" middle managers on my way from work one day last week. He was not in a suit, so I guess he was not yet working… For 18 months, I don't see a soul from that drab insular corporate world and the moment I start hearing news of them, I spot one amongst a large crowd of humans. Incredible? Not yet… this morning on my way to work, I spot a second one! What are the chances of that happening? Two in 3 days… BUT! That's not it.

My dear dear facebook-addicted colleague of PwC-Land, the one who had mysteriously disappeared off facebook for moons and moons suddenly popped back up on facebook! He even had a very long and detailed description of an incident.

I am pretty darn sure these are all signs! They don't just happen simultaneously out of the blue. But like double rainbow guy, I need to ask "What does this meeeeeeaaaaaaaaannnnn?"

One step at a time I suppose. Step 1: make contact with the old peeps of PwC-Land…..

This is gonna be fun!

I have just learnt how to post without even switching on my computer!

This. Is. Gonna. Be. Awesome!

And will mean that it won't be months between posts ever again :)

Sorry about that. I haven't forgotten about this, I have good intentions and I write all the time but time does get away from me, and the 'posting' part of blogging almost always seems to escape these days. Turning on a computer at the end of each work day just isn't all that appealing... particularly now that I don't need to look for work.

Things will be more regularly, I will try!

Ms Unavailability - Clare Bowditch And The Feeding Set

You think I'm no good because I've got
A boy back at home who I happen to love.
Yes indeedy-dee I do.
What good does that make me to you?
Go ahead, call me friend if you like.
I'm not saying this is easy, pity me,
I'm unavailable (that's me),
Little Ms Unavailability

Devil - who let you in?
Don't you go messing there again.
Just go, go now away.
Thank God there's always you to blame.

Some lonesome someone some time ago
Convinced you you had to be broken
To make your words grow,
Now you go using girls like me
To help fuel your creative misery.
You wrote to me not long after I had left
You said "I'm glad you're good.
I'm not so good. I'm quite a mess.
Who's gonna sing you to sleep?
We could've made such a beautiful, beautiful family."

Devil - who let you in?
Don't you go messing everything up again.
Just walk, walk now away.
Thank God there's always you to blame.

Collection of random thoughts

Holy bejeesus!

I am just no good at this blogging business anymore. The last time I posted something was the 10th April?! And you probably wouldn't even consider it a real post since there was nothing real insightful in those rather blurry pics.

That's not to say I haven't tried and haven't thought of things I could post here... it is just a matter of time, or lack of. With the onset of Masterchef back on tv and the exhaustion of travel to and from work, the idea of dancing my fingers across a keyboard at home is the last thing that I want to do. And hence this very neglected 'new blog'

Sorry bloggy!

Perhaps this will be a start, once I get the brain juices flowing, the other random thoughts will just flow....

Let me start with superficial vain things that made me glow with increasing joyness, because I too, can be a superficial vain bitch if I want to be.

1. A chick told me I had awesome legs and she wished she had my legs. Awww, I never thought that my short stumpy little legs would ever be the envy of any woman, but the thought that even having just 1 girl out of the millions of girls around the world wishing she had my legs - well - that makes you feel good.

2. I was standing at the bus stop one morning, waiting for my ride into the city on the consistently late city bus when out of the blue, a truck slows down, and a young guy pokes his head out the window and blows a wolf-whistle in my direction... at first, not really thinking it was aimed at me, I look around to see who it could have been aimed at.... but to my genuine surprise, I'm the only person standing there. Shock! Surprise! Amazement! IT WAS AIMED AT ME!

It took me by such surprise that I didn't know how to react, and shortly after the truck had passed, another car slowed down and lo and behold, a SECOND wolf-whistle TO ME! Wow, I must've been doing something right that morning :D

Flattering, really flattering. Yet offensive as well. Very offensive! Wolf-whistling signifies an objectification of women and for that I am totally against it... oh who am I kidding? I'm not against it at all, it makes me feel good and because of that, I love it :D

3. Just last week, I was having a chat to some people and one of them asked me what my ethnic heritage was because I look rather exotic. Really? Me? Exotic? Awwww, all these compliments and I just don't know how to respond to them... she might have been just trying to be polite, however, on that very same night, the taxi driver who drove me home said exactly the same thing to me. 'You very exotic, Miss'
Why thank you very much Mr Taxi Driver!

Man, I must've been doing something right that night!
If I was any more vain, I would be beginning to think hang on a sec, am I turning into a supermodel or something???? hehehe, yeah, I could only wish but it will never happen because vomiting doesn't suit me, and I do love to eat.

4. Hmm, how do I start no.4... well, as you well know, I am prone to strange, weird, elaborate and over the top dreams. Some of them, I couldn't even make them up if I tried. And quite often I remember them quick vividly. Well, the most recent of these weird and elaborate dreams involved me being very very very very pregnant. Suffice to say, a whole of stuff happened, I do a helluva lot while I'm stumbling around preggers, and then I go into labour and get taken to hospital to have the baby. Funnily enough, it was a short labour, and I didn't feel any pain at all. In fact, after the birth, I quite happily tell anyone who will listen how easy it was to have a baby and I don't know what all the fuss was about. My baby was stunningly gorgeous of course. Just like mum ;) The father of my baby was unknown. Perhaps in my dreams, I was a floozy? heheh

What on earth do you think that means? Dream interpretations suggests it may be a new beginning, or a new idea or project being hatched. Mmmmmmm, I like I like!

5. Important thing I have learnt: being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.

And a load will lift from your shoulders after you acknowledge that.

6. Ummm... I have started something. And it's not good. And I haven't thought about the consequences or where it might lead to, and I want to keep it going but I know it won't last and I don't know how to end it. But I guess I never want it to end, if I can help it. However, the right thing to do is to stop doing it. It's like crack, and I'm addicted to it.

7. Bejewelled. The work of the app. devil.

to be continued...

Life is absurd

First things first

WELCOME!

And now, I know not what else to do here...
I think I began this simply because I got tired of WITLA.

I got tired of how it looked, of what it contained, of what it represented. I just got bored of it. But most of all, I think I just really fell in love with the look and feel of this blog theme. The colours make me happy, the rainbow makes me happy, the tree makes me happy.

To be quite honest, I'm not quite sure where I want to take this... thing.... a mix of random thoughts and documenting of life's amusements I think.

Maybe I will start by telling you about the shenanigans that I have been up to of late since it has been awhile since I have really written anything... I am a little bit rusty, but give me a bit of time and I should be back to my nonsensical nonsense before long.

Well, the year has passed by ever so quickly, it is hard to believe that April and the Autumn colours are upon us already. The year started off well, the house is going well, the frames are up I believe, the bro's wedding plans are under way, I had a quick sojourn to the land of the rising sun and had a blast. Who knew that I would be so deeply enamoured by Japan? It is a remarkably fascinating country, unlike anything that I have come across before. We had an incredibly awesome time eating, shopping, eating, drinking, unintentional shoplifting as well as some intentional stealing, bathed nude at an onsen, eating, took a gazillions photos of Mt Fuiji, walked until my feet felt like dropping off, laughed like never before, visited the world famous fish market at 6am, had the freshest of fresh sashimi, and the most incredible meal at Michiba's and if by any chance, you happen to ask me how my trip to Japan went.... I have 2 words of warning for you. Be Prepared!

I have stories upon stories and then in case you thought I might be done, I come up with even more stories. A bloody awesome trip.

After my trip to Japan, I came home and quenched my thirst for some adrenaline rush by driving some V8 race buggies around a dirt track for a couple of hours, courtesy of PwC. Talk about fun, that was hard to top... I cannot believe some people do that for a living, race V8 buggies. I am so jealous!

Following that week, I was fortunate enough to receive from work, a free entry pass to all 4 days of the Grand Prix. I guess, technically, I should probably have been 'working' but you would understand when I explain that this was the first time I have attended the GP and I was plenty excited! How does one think of work when I have cars to watch, and F1 drivers to stalk.... And Powderfinger totally rocked.

I cannot believe how lucky I am, my awesome job, with my super cool colleagues, and now super cool benefits. I am now trying my damned hardest to get management to arrange more networking sessions at other events such as, the Races and the Australian Open tennis. I would give up my first born to get from work an access all areas pass to the tennis! Yeah, you can't find another job like mine....

I even scored a number of free passes to give out to my friends, I certainly became lil Miss Popular on F1 GP weekend :D

And then, I had a visit from my beloved Fad, all the way from Syd-en-y. Oh how I miss the lovely Fad's company. Caught a comedy show or 3.... actually, 6. I normally catch 1 show each festival, but this year, due to popular demand of my time, I will be seeing 3 shows, featuring 10 comedians and going madly broke... do people know that I have a mortgage now and have unwisely spent all my money in Japan????

A strange phenomenon has become me lately, I have somehow managed to become the unofficial social activity organizer at work. Don't ask me how that happened. It's just so unlike me to want to participate in anything with anybody work-related. Trust me when I tell you that I am normally very socially-awkward. And now I am finding myself organizing long lunches with colleagues, arranging comedy shows, after work drinkies... soon you will find me organising the work Christmas party! heheh, yeah right. Since I believe that nothing will ever top the PwC Christmas party I attended, unless I have an unlimited budget, nothing will ever live up to those lofty standards.

This weekend, I am just chilling out on my own. Catching up on arranging the thousands of photos taken in the last 2 weeks. And sleep. Lots of sleep. I miss sleep.

Post numero uno, completo.
